District Field Revitalization Committee
What is the Goal?
Many Hands Make light Work
Many parks are facing struggles finding volunteers. Little League is driving by the kindness of volunteers to make things happen
We want to create a resource to bring volunteers to places that they are needed most.
Knowledge
There is a vast array of knowledge that needs to be known to run a park. Our focus is to bring volunteers with knowledge of field maintenance and repair , fund raising, and project management together, along with people that just want to help to acommplish something great for our community.
Benefit our Children
As we see our children play throughout the district, we want to ensure a safe and equitable experience in every park. As we elevate the conditions throughout the district, All players will see the benefit.

Concord Youth Baseball and Softball helping an old Friend.
At this beginning of the 2025 season, the Elkhart FOP Junior and Minor Softball girls were buzzing with excitement to get their cleats dirty and play some softball. Unfortunately mother nature had other ideas in mind. Due to some aggressive rains and the Elkhart river, the field had some extreme shifts over the off season. Second base was a run uphill, while the base path between second and third was a roller coaster. Several parks made complaints about the field. Several parks didn't stop to ask if Elkhart FOP had the knowledge, skills, equipment, or volunteers to fix the problem. District 14 was left with a decision. Find a way to help, or cancel all home games for softball at Elkhart FOP until the field could be fixed. We reached out to our friend with the city, City Councilman, Arvis Dawson. He immediately went to work and reached out to the Mayor, Rod Robertson. Mayor Robertson reached out to Mike Lightner of Buildings and Grounds, and his crew came out to provided critical help to make the field playable.
I've never been one to put all my eggs in one basket. While we were working to make arrangements with the city to help, I was also reaching out to our local Little Leagues and former Little Leagues. Concord Youth Baseball and Softball answered the call. Casey Lehman, President of Concord Youth Baseball and Softball, brought out Lauren and Katie Whalen, Jenni Gill, Thomas and Barrett Johnson, Tommie Morelock, Will Carriger, and Andrew Hauser. They also brought out there ABI Force Infield machine. There effort resulted in a surface that the girls of Elkhart FOP Softball could play on safely and proudly. This is what true community is about. Friends and neighbors helping create a place for our children to play and create memories that last a life time. The team of volunteers from Concord and the city of Elkhart will never know the true measure of how their efforts positively affected countless girls in our community. I would like to let each and everyone of them know that I am grateful and proud to call you neighbor and friend. Your help was a blessing in a time of need. Thank you so much.
