Little League Tournament Eligibility Requirements

Why is this page important?

  • To protect the integrity of the Little League International Tournament as one of the elite amateur competitions in the world, it is imperative that we ensure that communities are submitting teams that are a part of their community. By standing on the pillars of Integrity, Teamwork, Community, Sportsmanship, Inclusivity, and Fun, we ensure that we provide an experience that builds young people into great leaders of tomorrow.
  • As adults, it is our responsibility to ensure that our shortcomings do not lead to the disappointment of a child. Giving you all the required information to be prepared when the time comes, allows you to enjoy the experience of the tournament with your child instead of worrying about these tedious details.
  • These requirements may change from time to time and having a place for parents to review what is needed in important. If you have questions about the information below, please feel free to contact your local league player agent or the district directly. The district contact information is at the bottom of every page on this site.

Follow these steps to ensure that your player has a trouble free tournament experience

  • Must be legally eligible to play for the league by proof of residency within the league boundaries prior to February 1st of that league year, or attend school within the league boundaries, or have an approved waiver for participation. Once these are in order then you can move forward.
  • Player has participated in at least 8 regular season scheduled games with the league. If a player has circumstance that prohibit the participation of these games, a player must have participated in 60% of the games they were available for. This is for special circumstances such as injury or school related events. These must be documented and approved by the District Administrator. Family Vacation is not an acceptable circumstance.
  • If the player has the appropriate residency/school/waiver and the requisite number of games played, then the league player agent will be required to fill out a tournament verification form and show the players actual birth certificate, not a copy or photo, to the District Administrator for approval. For some people, obtaining a birth certificate is difficult, and parents are not willing to hand it over. I do understand. I will be glad to meet with you in person to verify the documents so that you don't need to relinquish control of the document. But without the verification of a certified birth certificate, I cannot approve your player to participate. Certified copies will have a raised seal and no foot prints.
  • Once the Tournament Verification Form is completed for a player, then it will not have to be approved again unless the player changes leagues.
  • Copies of the support documents for the Tournament Verification Form must be kept with the form for reference. This includes 3 proof of residency, the school enrollment form, or the approved waiver. This does not include birth certificates.
